For the first time on record, we officially have more job openings than unemployed people in our country. Locally, the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) reported that our unemployment rate is below 3%  and according to many leading economists, we reach "full employment" when our unemployment rate hits 4.5%. That’s a level that we haven’t seen in the Pensacola area since October of 2015, 3 full years ago.
 
With 36 consecutive months over the full employment threshold and nearing historic lows with our unemployment rate, the question most companies are asking is, “How do we attract and hire the right employees, and what steps can we take to ensure that we have the necessary talent to sustain and grow our business?”
 
We will explore specific market data and demographic trends as well as discuss a framework for an attraction and hiring strategy that will impact your ability to hire more effectively in 2019.
 
Jim Howe is the Director of Staffing for LandrumHR. He has more than 20 years of leadership experience in the Staffing Industry, having worked for a couple large national organizations. Jim’s expertise is working with companies of all sizes to implement workforce management solutions that are focused on attracting, engaging and retaining the right workforce. He recently joined the LandrumHR team, relocating from the Chicago area.
